Meet Recap: #6 Alabama Wins Over #24 Kentucky


In a victory University of Alabama head coach Dana Duckworth called “hard earned," the No. 6 Crimson Tide defeated the No. 24 Kentucky Wildcats 196.700-195.625. The Tide swept titles on every event as well as the all-around. Juniors Carley Sims and Lauren Beers each earned multiple titles while sharing the title on vault with a score of 9.90. Sims also captured the floor title with a 9.90 and Beers took first on uneven bars with a 9.875. Senior Kaitlyn Clark won the tile on balance beam and sophomore Katie Bailey captured the all-around title with a 39.200.
 
Alabama takes on in-state and SEC rival Auburn next Friday at 7 p.m. CT.




Despite dropping to 2-3 on the season, No. 24 Kentucky overcame a slow start on vault to earn a season-high score of 195.625. Led by senior Shannon Mitchell’s meet-high 9.875 on balance beam, the Wildcats set a new season-high for both beam (48.925) and floor (49.100) as well as breaking the program record for team score in January. 
 

Kentucky is back on the road on as they head to Columbia to face the Missouri Tigers next Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
