#3 Best Female Gymnast of 2014 - Kyla Ross

As 2014 draws to a close, we are going back over the very best moments, meets, videos, and athletes from the entire year. Today we are naming the Best Female Athletes of 2014. Coming in at number three is Kyla Ross.

Ross had a great year in 2014. She kicked off the year with team and all-around golds at the City of Jesolo Trophy, followed by gold medals in team and balance beam as well as silver in the all-around, uneven bars and floor exercise at the Pacific Rim Championships.

In August, Ross competed at the Secret U.S. Classic, where she finished second all-around and third on uneven bars, first on balance beam, and second on floor. Just a few weeks later, she competed at the P&G Championships and finished second all-around and first on balance beam, sixth on uneven bars, and fifth on floor.

Despite a rough first day at the 2014 P&G Championships, Ross came back to earn silver in the all-around behind Simone Biles and was named to her third consecutive senior national team. To finish out a successful year of competition, Ross was a member of the gold medal winning team at the 2014 World Championships in Nanning, China. After mistakes from Yao Jinnan and Aliya Mustafina in the all-around final, Ross used their misfortune to her advantage and was able to slide in to take the bronze medal behind Simone Biles and Larisa Iordache.

After vowing to upgrade her routines on all four events, we are definitely looking forward to seeing what Kyla Ross will accomplish in 2015!
