Best Meet of 2014 - #1 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships

As the year draws to a close, we are taking a look back at the best of 2014. The final few days of this year will be filled with the best routines, moments, and more from this year for you to enjoy. Taking the title of “Gymnastike’s Best Meet of 2014” is the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships.

The U.S. Women’s Team made USA Gymnastics history by winning defending their World team title at the 2014 World Championships at the Guangxi Sports Center Gymnasium in Nanning, China. Team USA is the first team to win back-to-back women’s World titles since Romania in 2001. Not only did the U.S. lead the entire competition, they won by a 6.693 margin over second-place China.

Not only did Team USA make history, but exceptional performances from Simone Biles (World Champions Centre) secured her spot in the record books as the first woman to win consecutive World Champion All-Around titles since Svetlana Khorkina in 2001 and 2003.

The U.S. Men’s Team also represented well, rallying in the final events to beat out Great Britain for a bronze medal. For the entire competition, Team USA brought home 10 medals (four gold, two silver and four bronze).
