The final U.S. National Developmental Training Camp concluded last week at the Karolyi Ranch in Huntsville, Texas. These camps are geared towards gymnasts ages 10-13 who are training for or already competing in the elite level.

43 gymnasts from across the country were invited to this training camp. Lead by Valeri Liukin, the camp included two training sessions plus a coaches lecture every day.

Physical abilities testing was held on the first night of training. Morgan Hurd of First State Gymnastics in Delaware received the highest score for the physical abilities testing. Hurd was a first year international elite and competed at the 2014 P&G Championships. Coming in second was Maile O’Keefe from Academy of Salcianu Gymnastics in Nevada. O’Keefe is a second year international elite gymnast and qualified to the 2014 P&G Championships. Placing third in physical abilities was Caitlin Smith of Paramount Elite Gymnastics in California.

At every camp, a gymnast is selected by Liukin and the rest of the staff as the most improved camper. Trinity Thomas from Prestige Gymnastics in Pennsylvania was awarded this honor at November’s camp.
