Friday Focus: Getting To Know Felicia Hano


When considering all of Felicia Hano's gymnastic accomplishments, you wouldn't think her initial involvement in the sport was anything but conventional. Surprisingly, Hano started out as a trampolinist, winning silver medals at the World Age Group Championships in the Tumbling and Double Mini Trampoline events. As a gymnast, Hano competed at the 2014 P&G Championships, and was later named to the Senior National Team and the Senior Pan American Team. This brilliant athlete will be attending UCLA following her high school graduation in 2016. She's talented, intelligent, and down to earth, so let's get to know more about Felicia.
1. What is your favorite memory as a gymnast?
My favorite memory as a Jimmy so far, would be making the national team this year!
2. If you had a day off from practice, how would you spend it?
I would spend my day off doing schoolwork and relaxing!
3. Who is your childhood hero?
My childhood hero would have to be my dad. He's still my hero to this day!
4. What is your ideal pre-competition meal?
My pre-competition meal consists of grilled chicken and Caesar salad.
5.What is one routine activity you have to do before competing?
One thing I always have to do before I competition is watch Legally Blonde!
6. How would you describe your personality?
I would describe my personality as out going, but I can be shy at times.
7. What is your worst habit in the gym?
My worst habit in the gym would be getting frustrated easily.
8. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years, I see myself with a job [with] the FBI living near the beach.
9. Who are the most important people in your life?
My mom, my godmother, and my Jichan. (Grandpa in Japanese)
10. Who are two gymnasts you admire most?
The two gymnast I admire the most would be Kyla Ross and Carly Patterson because they're both extremely hard workers, and I aspire to be as good as them one day.

11. If you could witness any event- past, present, future- what would it be?
If I could witness any event, I would want to see Pres. Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation speech.
12. What is your biggest fear?
My biggest fear would be losing my family.
13. What song would you sing for Karaoke night?
I would sing "Amnesia" by 5SOS at karaoke night!
14. If you could play any other sport, what would you play?
I love to watch baseball and volleyball!
15. Do you have any nicknames? What are they?
My nickname is Fish! I'd rather be called Fish than Felicia LOL
16. If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
If I could eat one meal for the rest of my life it would be a sushi dinner!
17. If you could be a part of your favorite band, which band would it be?
I would want to be part of One Direction, 5SOS, or Taylor Swift!
18. Who is your best friend? How did you meet her?
My best friend is Elizabeth Yu, and I met her through gymnastics.
19. What is your favorite breakfast?
My favorite breakfast is Greek yogurt and granola.
20. Who do you spend the most time with?
I spend the most time with my family and my gym friends!
