All-Around Qualifiers
With all of the subdivisions complete for the women’s competition, let’s take a look at the top qualifiers for the all-around competition. 24 gymnasts qualified for the all-around competition, which is represented by 11 countries. The top 10 women below will need to have their best competition in order to bring home a medal with the tough competitors out on the floor. Let us know who you think will bring home gold, silver or bronze.

Simone Biles is the favorite by far, can anyone beat her? Weigh in at the bottom of the article. VOTE for who you think will win the title!
 

1. Simone Biles (USA)- 59.599
The reigning world all-around Simone Biles will look to defend her title. Simone qualified in first place for the all-around finals. Simone will be looking for improvements on bars from the qualification round. She will be relying on her strong events of vault and floor to help her bring home another gold medal. Watch her powerful floor routine from qualifications here.
 

2.  Aliya Mustafina (RUS)- 58.874
Mustafina is going to bring some great pressure to Simone Biles as they battle for the gold medal. Mustafina qualified into all-around finals in second place. Mustafina will look for more connections on beam to increase her start value. She will look to capitalize on bars as her start value is higher than Biles. Watch her beautiful bar routine from qualifications here.


3. Larisa Iordache (ROU)- 58.365
Iordache is going to be a strong contender for the medal podium. Iordache qualified into all-around finals in third place. She will look to capitalize on her strong beam and floor routines. In order to vie for the title she will need to improve on execution on bars as she only scored a 13.233 in qualification.Watch her floor routine from qualifications here


4. Yao Jinnan (CHN)- 58.032
Jinnan qualified into all-around finals in fourth place for China. Jinnan will be a strong favorite competing in her home country and will have the energy to use throughout competition. Jinnan is known to be inconsistent with international competition and will need to hit flawless routines to be on the podium. She will look to improve on her floor score from qualifications to vie for the title. Watch Jinnan's bar qualification routine

5. Kyla Ross (USA)- 57.941
Ross will bring consistency and beautiful lines to the all-around finals. Ross qualified fifth into all-around finals. Ross has some missed connections that will be key for her to be on the podium. Ross is a calm and cool competitor which will help her stay focused on the big competition. Watch Ross' post meet interview

 
6.  Mykayla Skinner (USA)- 57.799
Skinner had the sixth highest all-around score but due to the 2 per country rule, Skinner will be out of the AA finals. She will however compete in the vault and floor finals. Watch her floor routine from qualifications here


7. Vanessa Ferrari (ITA)- 57.231
Ferrari is an experienced international competitor which she will look to prove her status. She is a fierce competitor on floor where she will look to capitalize to help her earn a podium spot. Ferrari however will look to improve off of her 13.766 score on bars from qualifications. Look for Ferrari to use her experience to apply pressure to other competitors. 
 
8. Shang Chunsong (CHN)- 57.123
Shang is another hometown performer for China. Shang qualified eighth into all-around finals. Shang has a strong start value on bars and beam where she will need to hit big to earn a medal spot. During prelims she performed a low start vault which could hurt her chances at earning a podium spot. Look for Shang to use the home crowd to her advantage and step up if someone else makes a mistake. Watch her beautiful bar routine during training. 
 
9.  Ruby Harrold (GBR)- 56.766
Harrold will look to represent Great Brittan as she qualified in ninth place to all-around finals. Harrold is a consistent competitor across all four events. She will need to hit her best routines to battle with the top competitors in the finals. 
 
10.   Alla Sosnitskaya (RUS)- 56.740
Sosnitskaya is the second Russian gymnast to qualify for all-around finals. She will come into finals qualifying in tenth place. Sosnitskaya will look teammate Mustafina for experience and support during all-around finals. She has a strong vault that will be key in her success. Look for Sosnitskaya to step up if others make mistakes.
