2014 Men's Qualifications: Recapping China's Victory After Sub. 3


China proved its dominance at the men’s Subdivision 3 qualifications as they performed clean and consistent routines that earned them a top spot after completion of the session. They took risks with difficult skills and complex routines, reaping the benefits as they eliminated their competition and came out victorious.

HIGH BAR
Ran Cheng started China off on the high bar. He performed with a huge laid out tkatchev- powerfully done with great hight and amplitude. Cheng showcased four massive release moves throughout his routine, finishing with a double layout double twist dismount, slight hop on the landing.
Shudi Deng competed a huge tkatchev that caught in crossed mixed grip to pirouetting combination. Showed slight struggle in a pirouetting skill with a small break in his handstand. Although he did not perform as many releases as Cheng, he executed a great double layout double twisting dismount, with a slight hop on the landing.
Chaopan Lin suffered a fall on his Kolman, but finished with a powerful double twisting double layout dismount. Despite the fall, China continued to showcase impressive difficulty throughout their routines.
Absolutely MASSIVE release moves from former World Champion on this event Chenlong Zhang. He started off with a full twisting double layout, Cassina, caught perfectly with huge amplitude. He displayed two Kolman’s in his routine and impresses crowd with so many release moves not normally seen from China. He earned a 15.166 and took the lead.
Hao You started off his routine with an endo full, multiple tkatchev halves, and a huge double twisting double layout dismount, small step backwards upon landing.
Although high bar is apparently China's "weakest" event, they displayed it to be no problem despite suffering a fall. They displayed impressive release skills throughout each routine and put up consistent scores.
FLOOR EXERCISE
Chaopan started China off on floor. Great tumbling finishing with a triple twist, taking the smallest of hops on the landing, nearly had the stick. Despite suffering a fall on the high bar, Chaopan hit a solid floor set for China, leading his team with a high scoring start.
Cheng begins the set with an impressive few steps punch 2.5 twist, RO bakchandpsring 2.5 twist into a front rudi and finished the routine with a backwards triple twist, slight hop on the landing. He overall displayed solid tumbling and earned a 15.433.
Deng third up for China. Started out with a 3.5 twist to punch front tuck. Very impressive with a stuck landing. He also performed a front full to 2.5 twist with immense power and finished with a huge triple twist with a small hop on the landing. He looked very strong in his tumbling and earned a 15.466. His performance placed him in third on this event.
Zhang performed huge twisting passes including a back 1.5 into a 2.5 twist, 3.5 twist into punch front tuck and 2.5 to front tuck full, stuck landing. Last pass consisted of a triple twist. Although his chest was low on landing he finished with a 15.133.
Liu suffered a fall on his double tucked Arabian - looked to have too much power and rebounded out of the skill, falling to his hands on the floor. He ended the routine with a backward triple twist, big step on the landing. He seemed to struggle the most out of the Chinese men on floor.
POMMEL HORSE
Lin performed a strong routine, beginning with a Russian across, triple Russian on the end, with great amplitude and lines, finishing with a stuck landing and a fist pump. He was very happy with that set and scored 14.341.
Cheng showed a solid routine completing his set with a stuck dismount and another happy celebration. Deng also started his routine off with a Russian across, seems to be a common theme among the Chinese team, scissors with excellent hip extension and execution, he performed pommel with flawless lines, triple Russian on the end, and finished his routine with another stuck dismount. He scored a 14.566.
Hao showed impressive scissors with small deductions on executions, great pommel work into a triple Russian. He also dismounted with a final stuck landing and earned a 14.933. He scored the highest for the Chinese on this event.

STILL RINGS
Lin started China out on the Rings with a swing to Maltese bounce to cross, piked into a tuck Yama to Homna to cross that he could have held a little longer to show the complete skill. Overall, showed great strength and finished the set that China wanted for its first routine.
Cheng in the second position for China on Rings. Throughout the routine he seemed slightly shaky, but put up another strong set for China. Finished up with a double double dismount and a stuck landing. He earned a 14.666 score.
Deng performed an absolutely incredible performance on the rings. He exemplified strength and really showcases exquisite skills on the event. He finished with an impressive double twisting double layout dismount, with a stuck landing and scored a 15.133.
Yang was flawless! He's definitely going to be the man to beat in ring finals. Roll to Maltese, lower into hang, bounce press up to invert cross, INCREDIBLE, swing to planche, piked Yama. He finished with a huge stuck landing and two arm fist pump. He earned a huge 15.933 that put him into first place on this event.
Hao to finish China on the Rings showcased long and nearly perfect lines throughout the routine and showed great extension on all skills. He finished the team up with a score of 15.633 putting him into third on this event.
VAULT
Liu with a Tsuk double twist on first vault with only a small step to one side. He scored a 14.40.
Next, Lin performed a massive Tsuk triple twist. Again, with a small step back as he finds the landing, however, it looks effortless for him and he scored a 15.233.
Chen in the third position for China on Vault also performed a huge Tsuk triple twist, with another step back on the landing and chest slightly low. He earned a 15.333 and deservedly so.
Next, Lin performed a massive Tsuk triple twist. Again, with a small step back as he finds the landing, however, it looks effortless for him and he scored a 15.233.
Chen in the third position for China on Vault also performed a huge Tsuk triple twist, with another step back on the landing and chest slightly low. He earned a 15.333 and deservedly so.
Zhang vaulted a big handspring 2.5 twist. He took a big step backwards on the landing, but still scored well with a 15.133. Last up, Deng performed an incredible Tsuk triple twist and scored a 15.216. Only one vault was performed by all the Chinese men.
PARALLEL BARS
Last event in the competition, and first up was Zhang who performed a fantastic routine with long lines and great execution. He finished with a stuck double pike dismount. A great start for China on their final event, earning a 15.466.
Cheng with a second strong set for China. He made each skill look effortless with his fluid swing and great amplitude. He scored a big 15.533. Lin started out his routine with a slight struggle pressing up to handstand, but he recovered well and finished strong with a stuck dismount.
Deng up fourth for China on P Bars showed long fluid lines throughout the routine and nearly perfect execution. He also finished with a stuck double pike dismount and earned a huge 15.683 that placed him in second in this event.
You to anchor China on their last event of the session, and he performed a strong routine overall, finishing up the set with a unique double front half turn dismount. He scored a big 15.50 to complete China’s successful qualification competition.

China dominated this subdivision and have proven they will be difficult to beat. They competed in the third subdivision, with ten total.
