Spotlight- Larisa Iordache
Another gymnast who will be in the hunt for the all-around title at this year’s World Championships is Romanian gymnast Larisa Iordache. Iordache is a World and Olympic bronze medalist. Iordache is also a strong favorite to win the beam title.

Competition history:
Iordache was new to the senior elite scene in 2012 where she became a leader very quickly for the Romanian team. At the Olympic Games in 2012 Iordache developed plantar fasciitis in her left foot causing her severe pain. She was able to compete and help the Romanian team bring home a bronze medal. Individually Iordache placed ninth in the all-around final with a score of 57.965 and placed sixth in the beam final with a 14.20.

Most recently Iordache competed in the 2014 European Championships where she became the most successful gymnast. Iordache helped lead Romania to team gold at the senior women’s team competition. She was the only gymnast to qualify to event finals on all four events. She won gold on floor, silver on beam and bronze on vault.

2013 World Championships:
At the 2013 World Championships Iordache placed fourth in the all-around with a 57.766. Iordache captured a bronze medal on floor with a 14.60 to finish behind Simone Biles and Vanessa Ferrari. During event finals Larisa Iordache fell again on balance beam as she did in the all-around final. Iordache fell early in the routine on her full-twisting back tuck. Iordache was one of the favorites for gold.

What to watch for:
Iordache’s gymnastics brings beautiful lines and graceful execution which really draws in the crowd and especially shine through on floor. Iordache's beam routine features extreme difficulty that comes with a lot of risk. Her beam routine is an insanely difficult beam set which includes two full twists. Will Iordache play it safe or go big at World Championships?! If she hits with the big difficulty she will be hard to beat for the gold.

Do you think Iordache has a chance of upsetting the favorites in Simone Biles and Aliya Mustafina? Let us know in the comments below.
