Juniors to Watch for at the Secret Classic
Below are some of the juniors you should definitely keep an eye out for! Tell us who you think will take the title in the comments section below.

Nia Dennis

With Bailie Key out of the Classic, Dennis is definitely a contender for the junior all-around title. At the 2014 City of Jesolo Trophy and 2014 Pacific Rim Championships, she finished second in the all-around behind Key.

Dennis is known for her high-flying release moves on bars, but she is also a solid all-around gymnast and scores well on vault and floor. Her weakest event, beam, will most likely be the deciding factor in the junior all-around and just happens to be her toughest competition’s best event.

Norah Flatley

Although Flatley is only a second-year elite, she is already one of the top juniors in the U.S. She is likely Dennis’s toughest competition for the all-around title with Key’s absence. Flatley finished third in the all-around behind Dennis at both the 2014 City of Jesolo Trophy and 2014 Pacific Rim Championships.

She is best known for her stellar and unique work on beam, where she showcases her flexibility. At Jesolo and Pac Rims, she won beam titles. While Flatley has less experience than Dennis, she does excel where Dennis does not. Though, Flatley does have the disadvantage on vault with only a 5.0 difficulty.

Delanie Harkness
This year is Harkness’s first year as an elite, and she is coming off of an outstanding level 10 season. She is the National all-around, uneven bars and floor exercise champion, the Regional uneven bars and floor exercise champion and Michigan state floor exercise champion.

She has attended developmental camps to help her adjust to the elite level and learn what it’s all about, though she’s already somewhat familiar with it coming from Twistars USA, former gym of Olympic Champion Jordyn Wieber.

This new elite is talented and excels on bars and floor, which will be the events to watch this newcomer on. Watch her floor routine and bar routine from WOGA Classic.

Morgan Hurd

Most gym fans first saw this pint-sized gymnast at the 2014 Nastia Liukin Cup where she impressed fans with her flexibility and performances. She is now a fan-favorite.

Hurd is currently the reigning Delaware state vault and uneven bars champion. In terms of vault, Hurd has revealed an upgrade on Instagram and that she has been training a Yurchenko double, which looks competition ready. Keep an eye out for Hurd to see if she does her new vault and how she showcases her flexibility on floor. Since she competed at this year’s Nastia Cup, Hurd should be fairly familiar with competing on a podium and in front of a large audience.

Ragan Smith

Shortly after last year’s P&G Championships, Smith decided that she wanted to become a member of Kim Zmeskal-Burdette’s “Dream Team.” A few months later, her hard work at her new gym had paid off. The newest Texas Dreams elite was added to the junior US National Team and was headed to Italy for the 2014 City of Jesolo Trophy, where she made her international debut.

At Jesolo, she helped the juniors of Team USA win the team gold and finished ninth all-around. At the Classic, Smith will showcase how her move to Texas Dreams has enhanced her gymnastics even more, including a few upgrades as shown in her May National Team Camp video such as a triple flight series on beam and a triple twist on floor.
