Japan has announced their men’s and women’s artistic team for the 2014 World Championships. The 2014 World Championships will be held in Nanning, China on October 3-13.
Headlining the men's team is Kohei Uchimura, five time Olympic medalist and 13 time World medalist. At the 2013 World Championships, Uchimura won his fourth consecutive all-around title almost two points ahead of the second place finisher, Ryohei Kato, who is also on this year's Worlds team. Also on the team is Kenzo Shirai who won gold on floor at last year's World Championships.
Natsumi Sasada won the 2014 Japanese Championships securing her spot as a leader on the women's team. Asuka Teramoto finished second by half a point followed by Yuna Hiraiwa. Teramoto was on the past two World Championships teams as well as the 2012 Olympic team. Mai Murakami was on last year's World Championships team. Yu Minobe is one of the most experienced on this year's team and competed at both the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.
