Auburn's Bri Guy Tears Both Achilles Tendons

Last Friday was full of ups and downs for Auburn. They posted a season high of 197.1 in an intense battle with state foe Alabama, but they also lost one of their best all-around gymnasts, Bri Guy, who tore both of her achilles tendons.
During Bri’s floor routine, she tore her achilles tendons on the take off of her double layout and ended up landing hard on her head.
"It looked worse than it actually was," Guy said in an interview with Auburn Athletics. "I wasn't worried about my head. I landed on my head a lot in this sport. That didn't really faze me."
When medical staff rushed to her side, coach Jeff Graba said Bri was coherent and her usually smiling self.
Bri had surgery on Wednesday to repair both tendons and won’t be able to put any weight on her feet for six weeks. She will then have six to nine months of rehab before she is able to join the team again at full strength. However, Bri knows she will still have an important role during her down time and is determined to continue being a leader for her team, even if it’s from the sidelines.
Graba and the team is now focused on continuing their momentum without one of their key competitors. They will have to replace all four of Bri’s routines and tonight will be their first challenge as they welcome SEC competitor Georgia to Auburn Arena for a dual meet.
