Kocian is back for WOGA Classic
The 2014 WOGA Classic is this Saturday and Gymnastike will be providing a LIVE broadcast of the international elite session. This year’s field is full of exceptional competitors and many highly anticipated routines. Leading the U.S. side is WOGA senior international elite Madison Kocian. After her 2013 season was cut short by injury, Kocian is back and has her eyes set on this year’s world team.

Kocian has trained at WOGA her entire career and was a bright star from the start. She breezed past the compulsory levels claiming medals along the way and in 2009 she qualified for the first time as a junior international elite. At her first overseas competition, Top Gym in Belgium, Kocian finished third all-around as well as first on vault and second on beam.

For both the 2010 and 2011 seasons, Kocian started her year with the WOGA Classic where she finished second all-around in the junior international elite division both years. In 2011 Kocian was selected to compete at the City of Jesolo Trophy in Italy where helped lead team USA to gold and as an individual placed second all-around.

In 2012, Kocian missed most of the season due to a wrist injury and 2013 looked to be Kocian’s comeback year. She was back and looked stronger than ever and proved it at the American Classic where she took first on vault, bars, and all-around. She moved on to the U.S. Classic where she took seventh all-around. Many considered her to be a strong contender for the 2013 U.S. World Championship Team and the P&G Championships was her chance to prove she deserved it. On the first day of competition, Kocian led the field after two events. On her third event, floor, she she landed her triple twist and rolled her ankle causing a third degree sprain. She was forced to withdraw from the competition and her season was over.

2014 will prove to be another comeback year for Kocian and she is ready for the challenge. At the January U.S. National Team training camp Kocian’s signature bar skills looked on point. Below you can see some of her highlights from the camp.

At this year's WOGA Classic you can expect Kocian to be better than ever. Make sure to keep an eye out for her beautiful bar routine with a sky high jeager and an impressive staddler shaposh half. Kocian's beam is also packed with difficulty including a standing arabian and a double tuck dismount. Watch her bar routine from last year's WOGA Classic below.
