Gymnast of the Week: Rheagan Courville


Gymnastike's first ever Gymnast of the Week is LSU junior Rheagan Courville, who is ranked second all-around and is a key leader to LSU's early success this season. She has won the all-around in every single meet this season, last weekend beating out star Alabama gymnast Sarah DeMeo by half a tenth.
Courville's grace and elegant lines combined with her power and agility make her tough to beat. She is not only a solid and consistent all-arounder, but, as a former elite, she is able to execute impressive high level skills while making them look simple.
Vault

Courville is the reigning NCAA vault champion. She has been competing a huge yurchenko full on vault and is consistently able to stick it. This past weekend at Alabama she scored an impressive 9.975, winning the event. Below is a 9.95 vault from last season.

While bars is surely not her weakness, it is her least consistent event. However, she has beautiful form and a smooth swing and when she hits, she scores big. She performs a high flying straddle jeager and a gorgeous full in dismount. Below is her bar routine from last year’s Metroplex where she scored a 9.95.

Club
Courville trained at Louisiana Gymnastics Training Center where she was coached by former LSU national champion Susan Jackson. She was a senior international elite and qualified for the Visa Championships three times.
