Double Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman of Needham, Mass./Brestyan's American Gymnastics, will be hosting Winning Together, Meeting the Challenges of Lung Cancer Gala at Pine Brook Country Club in Weston, Mass., on October 19 at 7:30 p.m. This special event will benefit Uniting Against Lung Cancer (UALC), a leading non-profit organization dedicated to funding innovative research and raising awareness to find a cure for lung cancer. 

Below is a message from Aly Raisman about the special event: 

"Winning Together, Meeting the Challenges of Lung Cancer Gala was created to foster progress in the fight against lung cancer. The event is in honor of my grandmother, Nancy. Nancy’s warm heart, positive attitude, and enthusiasm for life left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Through her strength and perseverance, she was able to rally friends and family to join her in the fight against lung cancer. We are coming together again to continue her legacy by raising funds for lung cancer research to find a cure. Your support will continue Nancy’s mission to make a difference in the lives of future lung cancer patients.

Each year, more than 226,000 people are diagnosed with lung cancer in the United States. This year, more people will die from lung cancer than breast, prostate, pancreatic, and colorectal cancers combined, yet it receives less federal research funding than any of the other major cancers. UALC is attempting to close the gap by supporting new research initiatives that would otherwise go unfunded. UALC has awarded more than $10 million in grants for innovative research into treatment and a cure for lung cancer.

Winning Together, Meeting the Challenges of Lung Cancer Gala will be a lively celebration joining together all those passionate about fighting lung cancer and providing critical funding for research to find a cure."
