
Seven juniors qualify to compete in the senior men’s competition at the 2013 P&G Gymnastics Championships
HARTFORD, Conn., Aug. 17, 2013 – Using a 20-point results ranking system of the Men’s Program Committee, seven male gymnasts who competed in the first day of the junior competition have qualified to compete in the senior session on the men’s final day of competition on Sunday.
The seven gymnasts, listed in points ranking order, are: Marvin Kimble of Milwaukee, Wis./Swiss Turners Gymnastics; Jacob Dastrup of Linden, Utah/U.S. Olympic Training Center; Yul Moldauer of Arvada, Colo./5280 Gymnastics; Anthony McCallum of Columbia, S.C./Hayden’s International Gymnastics Academy; Colin Van Wicklen of Magnolia, Texas/Cypress Gymnastics Academy; Yaroslav Pochinka of Plano, Texas/WOGA; and Bobby Baker of Lemont, Ill./Aerial Gymnastics Club.
Kimble and Dastrup had the top all-around scores for the junior elite 15-16 and 17-18 age divisions, respectively.
The 20-point system awards points based on rankings within the competition. By competing in the senior men’s session, these gymnasts will have the opportunity to contend for spots on the senior national team. Seven athletes qualified due to a tie for sixth place.
The competition schedule is: Aug. 17 – women’s gymnastics, juniors at 2 p.m. and seniors at 7:30 p.m.; and Aug. 18 – men’s gymnastics, seniors at 11:30 a.m. and juniors at 6:30 p.m. Times listed are Eastern.
