The dream season continues for Head Coach Meg Stephenson and her No. 8 Minnesota Gophers. The magic started back in January when the Gophers defeated #1 Michigan in a huge upset that shook up the NCAA rankings. The magic continued this past weekend at the Gainesville regional where the Gophers placed second behind the #1 Florida Gators to qualify to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2002. 

The team was under tremendous pressure during the final rotation sitting in third place.  The season was on the line and Minnesota posted the second best vault score in school history, a 49.525. Their amazing performance allowed the Gophers to pass Auburn for second place and punch their ticket to the NCAA Championships. 




"I've been saying all year long they're the real deal. It feels great to have them rewarded for all of their hard work," head coach Meg Stephenson said. 

 "This team is so incredibly special, and we believe in each other one hundred and fifty million percent, every step of the way," said Senior Janell Campbell.

Minnesota has two weeks to prepare for the program's first trip to the NCAA Championships since their ninth place finish during the 2002 season. No. 8 Minnesota will compete in the afternoon session of the NCAA Championship Semi-finals along with No.1 Florida, No. 4 Georgia, No. 5 LSU, No. 9 Stanford and No. 12 Illinois.  The Gophers must finish in the top three of their session to move on to the Super Six Finals.
