From USA Gymnastics:

INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 13, 2011 – Chris Brooks of Houston/Team Hilton HHonors (Cypress Gymnastics), and Sam Mikulak of Ann Arbor, Mich./University of Michigan, will represent the United States in men’s gymnastics at the 2012 Olympic Test Event in London, England, Jan. 10-13.

The Olympic Test Event serves as a second qualifying event to the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Team USA has already qualified athletes in men’s and women’s gymnastics and women’s trampoline.  For rhythmic gymnastics and men’s trampoline, the USA will be seeking to qualify for the Olympic Games at the Test Event.

Brooks and Mikulak will participate in Mixed Group 6 in Subdivision 3 in the preliminary round, starting on the vault. The top eight men on each apparatus in the preliminary round advance to the individual event finals.

Sam Mikulak is the defending NCAA All Around Champion and is currently in his sophomore season at the University of Michigan. He missed the 2011 Visa Championships and World Championships due to ankle injuries sustained while competed for USA at the 2011 Puerto Rico Cup. This will be great international experience for the young, talented gymnast.

Chris Brooks is a more seasoned competitor, having been on the 2010 World Championships team which finished 4th place, and traveling with the team to Tokyo as the 2011 World Team alternate. He was an All American for the University of Oklahoma and has continued to improve throughout the years. He now trains alongside Jonathan Horton at Cypress Academy in Texas. He's struggled with injuries over the years but is one of the nation's top all around gymnasts when he's healthy.
