More Canadian Gymnasts to the NCAA
This week a few international gymnasts announced their plans to come to the US for college and join NCAA gymnastics teams.

Mikaela Gerber has committed to UCLA. Gerber was a member of the 2011 Canadian team for both World Championships and Pan American Games. She won the silver medal on floor at Pan Ams.

Mikaela's older sister, Aisha Gerber, is currently a senior on the UCLA team. Mikaela trains at Oakville Gymnastics alongside Christine "Peng Peng" Lee, another future Bruin. Lee signed with UCLA but will defer until after the London Olympics. Gerber said in this interview during World Championships that she hoped she could compete for UCLA like her sister.

On the other side of the country, the University of Florida will be welcoming 2011 Spanish World team member Silvia Colussi-Pelaez. She has committed to the Gators for the 2013-2014 season. Born in Canada to a Spanish mother, Pelaez has competed both in Canada and Spain, and is also currently training at Oakville Gymnastics in Canada.

The University of Oklahoma has also picked up a Canadian gymnast. Jaclyn Shelton accepted a scholarship to OU after making a comeback from a hip injury that required two years away from competition and ultimately a hip replacement.
