Mackenzie Caquatto Injured during World Team Selection Camp

Caquatto had a decent shot in making the team after a solid performance while representing Team USA in Rotterdam last year. At the 2011 Visa Championships, she placed 4th all around with watered down beam and floor routines due to an ankle injury she suffered towards the end of the 2011 NCAA season for Florida. She only competed a roundoff double twist beam dismount at Nationals in August and told gymnastike in this interview that she knew she would need to go back to her double pike in order for a shot at the World team.
In reaction to the injury, 1996 Olympic Champion Dominique Moceanu tweeted,
@Dmoceanu: These injuries are senseless & preventable. My heart goes out to
Our heart goes out to Mackenzie and her coaches.
As of right now all we know is that she is in fact injured, however the severity of the injury is yet to be announced. We will update with more information as it becomes available.
The girls will have their 2nd of 2 competitions tomorrow and the 2011 World Championships team and Pan American Games team will be announced at the conclusion of the competition. Stay tuned to gymnastike for the announcement.
