Sadly, this looks to be the final season for the Cal Berkeley gymnastics since the Berkeley administration has decided to drop gymnastics. Read my thoughts on that.
Even though the numbers are dwindling, the competitive level of Men's NCAA gymnastics just keeps getting better. Chris Cameron agrees. Six of the seven guys on the 2010 World Championships team that placed 4th in Rotterdam are product of NCAA gymnastics: Chris Brooks (Oklahoma), Chris Cameron (Michigan), Jonathan Horton (Oklahoma), Steven Legendre (Oklahoma), Paul Ruggeri (alternate; Illinois), Brandon Wynn (Ohio State). Danell Leyva was the odd man out.
Opening weekend for men's college gymnastics will be January 14th, 2011 with most teams participating in the Windy City Invitational hosted by UIC. Jason MacDonald provided gymnastike coverage of Windy City last year. Take a look back. Gymnastike is working toward providing even more coverage of Windy City this season. Stay tuned!
