And the Men's NCAA Team Finalists Are...

The 2 preliminary rounds of this year's NCAA Championships held at West Point are now complete and it appears Michigan is the real deal. The top 3 teams from each session advanced to tomorrow's NCAA team finals. These 6 teams will battle it out for the NCAA Team Championship Friday night:

Michigan 359.80

Stanford 359.0

Oklahoma 356.40

California 355.00

Illinois 354.05

Ohio State 346.80

Michigan came into today's meet ranked 3rd but will surge into the team final as the #1 seed. They bested their previous season-high score on floor by over a point with a 61.30. Illinois is currently ranked #1 in the nation but didn't have their best meet today. Oklahoma struggled on pommels and high bar but put up an monstrous 64.60 on Vault with 3 vaults scoring 16.0 or better. Cal seems to be peaking at just the right time and could be in mix tomorrow. They're led by Glen Ishino and Kyle Bunthuwong who are both strong contenders for this year's All Around title. Stanford, your defending National Champions seem to be past their struggles at the MPSF Conference Championships. And finally, Ohio State squeaked past Penn State to clinch the final spot in team finals, led by All-Arounder Brandon Wynn.

This should be an extremely close team final. Personally, I don't know who to predict. We'll find out the team Champion tomorrow night. But, the Championships don't end there! The top-10 finishers from Friday night's team finals will qualify for the NCAA Individual Event Finals on Saturday night.

Tomorrow night I'll be covering the 2010 USAG Collegiate National Championships hosted by TWU, but you know I'll keep you updated on the men's action.

In the meantime, check out the top NCAA men's routines from this season, or read this awesome article about Justin Spring written by Jeff LaBelle.
