When Minnesota Baseball takes the field at the Sanderson Ford Baseball Classic during college baseball's Opening Day, it'll begin coach John Anderson's 43rd and final season at the helm.

Anderson announced in December 2023 that this season would be his last. He has been been apart of the Minnesota program since 1974, when he arrived as a walk-on from Nashwauk, Minnesota.

Then in the fall of 1981, Anderson became the head coach. 

Since then, he's won nine Big Ten Tournament Championships, reached 18 NCAA Baseball Tournaments and is an eight-time Big Ten Coach of the Year. He's won 1,365 games which is good for 20th all-time and is second among active head coaches.
