UCLA Softball star senior pitcher Megan Faraimo threw the second no-hitter at the 2023 Mary Nutter Colligiate Classic on the first day of the event. 

And it came against the No. 3 team in the country. 

The 13-0, No.1 team in the country jumped all over the 10-1 Florida Gators in Cathedral City, California. It came on the same field that No. 8 Washington and pitcher Kelley Lynch threw a no-hitter earlier in the day during a 16-0 win over Bethune-Cookman. 

Faraimo, who entered the season as one of front runners for the the player of the year, struck six of the first seven batters she faced, including striking out the side in the first two innings. She finished with nine in the 5-inning game. She improved to 8-0 on the season and now has 78 strike outs on the year-- both lead the nation.

Washington Softball Kelley Lynch Also Throws No-hitter

In a similar 5-inning game, Washington senior Kelley Lynch struck out 13 and batters in a 16-0 win in the opening game of the Mary Nutter Colleigiate Classic against Bethune-Cookman.

Who Is Mary Nutter?

Mary Nutter was an All-American softball player and a pioneer in the sport. 

She was a coach at Pittsburgh State and was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1988 and the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1997.

Nutter died in 2012.
