NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Ashley Kerr, a former University of Florida gymnast, has been named the Oklahoma women's gymnastics volunteer assistant coach, head coach K.J. Kindler announced Monday.

"We are very excited for Ashley to join our team behind the team," Kindler said. "She is inquisitive, positive, detail oriented, generous, and observant. Her experience at the University of Florida is invaluable and her time there was well spent wearing many administrative hats."

She is incredibly motivated to contribute to a program in a new role, as coach. We are ecstatic that she chose Oklahoma.
Kerr competed for the Gators from 2007-2010 and was a four-time member of the NCAA Scholastic All-American team, as well as the SEC academic honor roll. She served as the president of UF's student-athlete advisory committee and was awarded the 2010 outstanding leadership award by the UF alumni association.

"I'm very excited to be joining K.J., the women's gymnastics program and the OU community," Kerr said. "I can't thank the University of Florida enough for all of the experiences I've had and the people I've worked with."

I am grateful for this opportunity with OU to continue to grow professionally and add whatever value I can to an already accomplished team and athletic department.
Upon graduation, Kerr served as the volunteer student manager for the 2011 season before serving as the team manager from 2011-2013. Most recently, Kerr was the assistant to the head coach, supporting multiple aspects of the program. Kerr worked with the coaching staff on all on-campus recruiting visits, coordinated the team social media activity, and helped with community outreach. She helped plan and organize team travel and assisted the head coach at all team competitions while working with the marketing department on promotional plans to increase fan interest and attendance. Additionally, she assisted with the planning and execution of summer camps.

In her time at Florida, Kerr worked with three national champion teams as the Gators won three straight between 2013-15. Kerr was a part of nine ten Super Six teams and five SEC championship teams during her time as both a gymnast and a staff member.

The OU women's gymnastics team begins competition on January 15 at the University of Georgia and will return to the Lloyd Noble Center on January 21 for the home opener against Iowa State and TWU.
