Lindsay Mable was a strong all-around gymnast for the Gophers in her four years at Minnesota. She had no weak event and was consistent week in and week out. Mable finished her career on top, winning the AAI award in 2016 as the most outstanding senior gymnast.

FloGymnastics recently caught up with Mable to talk about life after gymnastics.

FloGymnastics: What have you been up to since graduating in 2016?
Mable: I graduated in 2016 with my undergrad degree and stayed at Minnesota to start my masters in Elementary Education. Last season I stayed on as student coach and it was a really neat to see things from the coaching perspective.

What did you enjoy most about your role as student coach? Do you want to continue the coaching path?
I learned so much about all the behind the scenes work that goes into NCAA gymnastics. Last year opened the door for me without a commitment and the coaches really taught me a lot. I would love to stay involved with college gymnastics in some way. Right now I am in North Carolina with my fiancee and I am teaching 6th grade math. Coaching isn't the right fit or time for me right now, but I want to keep that door open.

When you look back at your career at Minnesota, what moments stand out to you the most?
I can still see, hear, and feel the emotions that I felt when we qualified to nationals my freshman year as a team. That moment was a part of history as we hadn't qualified since 2002. We had great chemistry and magic that all came together and it was such a special moment.

What are you most proud of as a Minnesota Gopher?
I am most proud of the amazing relationships that have been created throughout the program. The ability that the coaching staff had to help each of us get into the right mindset and come back from adversity to qualify to nationals.

You went through a head coaching change in your time at Minnesota. What was that like for you?
I had two choices: embrace the change and make the most of it or push back and make it harder for everyone. I chose to embrace the change and make the most of it! I put my trust in the University that they were looking out for the athletes and to find someone who fits what we needed. Jenny was already a coach here so her role just changed where she expected more from us as well as we could expect more from her.

What is next for you personally? What are your future goals?
Next summer I am getting married! I have goals to maintain a happy and healthy lifestyle. I want to stay involved as a NCAA fan and watching others flourish. I want to stay active with NCAA gymnastics and be the best version of myself.

What do you miss most about being a NCAA gymnast?
I miss having workouts built into my schedule and working out with my best friends every day. I also miss the comradery with everyone that loved and supported me.

You just went on a big trip to Europe, tell us about that experience.
Yes, I went to Europe with my mom for two and a half weeks as a graduation gift. We went to London, Paris, Belgium, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen. It was great to see so much history and see the priorities others have and how much different they live. I learned to not take the simple little things for granted. For example: ice water. I am lucky to have those little things and it really opened my eyes to how lucky we are.

Anything else you would like to share with us?
I am so grateful for my time at Minnesota and what it taught me. I want to tell others to be present in the moment (good or bad) and realize what you can learn from any situation. Go Gophers!
