Eighteenth-ranked George Washington will take on No. 37 Central Michigan, No. 47 San Jose State, and No. 52 Bowling Green this Saturday, January 28, at the Metroplex Challenge College Night in Fort Worth, Texas. George Washington has had a fantastic start to its season, and the Colonials hit the 196.000 mark in their last meet against Towson on Sunday. They will be looking to improve even further at the Metroplex Challenge as they go up against three other teams.



The meet will be streamed live HERE on FloGymnastics, so don't forget to check in at 6:45 PM CT on Saturday. Here's a look at some of the top gymnasts you should watch for at this competition.

TOP VAULTERS

This meet features some really strong vaulters, especially junior Camille Drouin-Allaire from George Washington, who is currently ranked No. 22 in the country and holds a 9.95 as her career high. Drouin-Allaire, who performs a Yurchenko full, has excellent form in the air, and she regularly sticks her landings. Check out her vault from the Lindsey Ferris Invitational below:

Colonials senior Chelsea Raineri, is also a top vaulter to watch for this weekend. Raineri performs the more difficult Yurchenko 1 1/2 and is currently tied for the No. 48 spot nationally with Bowling Green senior Lauren Feely. Feely was the MAC vault co-champion in 2015 and has a career best of 9.9.

THE GWU BEAMERS

The GWU gymnasts have been on fire on beam this year. In fact, it's their best scoring event at the moment, and they are tied for the No. 6 spot nationally. Some of the beamers to watch out for on this team include juniors Sara Mermelstein, Alexandra Zois, and Elizabeth Pfeiler and senior Alex DeMoura. Mermelstein has scored a 9.875 at the last two competitions, while Jillian Winstanley and Zois both put up a 9.9 at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational.

CMU'S POWER ON FLOOR

On floor exercise, Central Michigan is a team to watch. It is currently the Chippewas' best event, and they are in the No. 18 spot nationally as a team. Top performers include junior Macey Hilliker, who is tied for No. 5 nationally after scoring a career-high 9.925 in her first time competing floor for CMU this season. Junior Katy Clements also scored a new career high of 9.925 in the same meet, after also notching a 9.9 in the season opener. This is Clements' first season performing on floor for the Central Michigan, after competing only vault and beam last season and not competing at all her freshman year.

THE TOP ALL-AROUNDERS

The Metroplex quad meet will include several all-around gymnasts, and it will likely be a close competition to see who comes out on top. For GWU, DeMoura is currently the Colonials' top-ranked all-arounder at No. 42. DeMoura scores consistently on all four events, and her season high so far this year has been on floor with a 9.875. Her highest all-around score came during the first meet of the season, when she put up a 39.175.

Drouin-Allaire is also a strong all-around competitor, ranked No. 47 at the moment. She has hit her season high of 9.875 twice so far on vault, and her season best in the all-around is slightly higher than DeMoura's at 39.200.

Winstanley is the third all-around competitor for GWU. Her season high in the all-around is 38.875, and she's scored highest this year on beam with a 9.9.

For CMU, Gianna Plaksa has only competed all four events in the Chippewas' last meet against Eastern Michigan this past Friday, when she put up a 39.000. Denelle Pedrick has competed all-around in every meet so far this season, notching a season high of 39.050 in CMU's second meet against Western Michigan.

Lastly, San Jose State's Kaitlin Won competes all four events but is especially strong on floor exercise. Check out her routine from last season, when she competed at the NorCal Classic and scored a 9.8:
