Meet Preview: Florida Gators Take On Kentucky Wildcats
The Florida Gators opened the 2017 season with a 197.10 on Sunday against North Carolina State -- the second highest opener in program's 45 year history.

Sophomore Alicia Boren had the highest score on vault with a 9.95 and the highest score on balance beam (9.925). Junior Alex McMurtry took the uneven bar title with a 9.90 and Junior Kennedy Baker took the floor exercise title with a 9.925. Baker won all-around with a 39.50 followed by her two teammates. Boren finished close 2nd with a 39.475 and Amelia Hundley finished 3rd with a 39.375.

Honorable Moments From North Carolina State Meet


  • ​Baker's 39.50 equals the third highest season opening all-around in school history. It is her first all-around title of her career.
  • Rachel Slocum debuted exhibition vault with score of 9.925 on a front handspring pike-front half twist vault.
  • McMurtry won uneven bars for the seventh time in her career.
  • Baker won floor for her seventh time in her career. 
  • Baker's all-around score equals Bridget Sloan's total set last season as the top opening all-around road score.

Florida vs. Kentucky


The meet is set for Friday, January 13th in the newly renovated Exactech Arena at the Stephen O'Connell Center for the SEC opener. Kentucky is on the road for the second week after defeating EMU with a score of 195.075. Wildcat freshman Mollie Korth took all-around with a final score of 39.075. This should be an exciting SEC opener.
