The Cal Bears held an intrasquad meet this past Sunday and gave us a sneak peak into some of the routines they've been working on in preseason. The Bears are in a unique situation this year, because they have not lost any routines from last season's lineups. Instead, Cal has added a few talented freshmen, so the Bears have lots to choose from when shaping their lineups this year.

The team narrowly missed out on making the 2016 Super Six finals, but Cal is a major contender for this upcoming season. Here is a summary of what we can expect to see from the Bears this year based on their recent intrasquad and other training videos.

Lots of Variety in Vault Training

Cal is known for having unique vaults in its lineup and competing more 10.0 vaults than other teams. This season seems to be no different, and the Bears have been training a huge variety of vaults. Junior Toni-Ann Williams is continuing to train her Yurchenko 1 1/2. Freshmen Mariah Peterson and Cassidy Keelen are also training this vault, as is senior Amber Takara. Sophomore Sylvie Seilnacht, who last year competed a Yurchenko Arabian, is now training a tucked Yurchenko 1 1/2. Juniors Alicia Gallarzo and Arianna Robinson are continuing to train their vaults from last season -- a Yurchenko Arabian for Gallarzo and a front-handspring, front double pike from Robinson. Lastly, senior Emily Richardson is continuing with her laid out Kasamatsu.

Huge Release Moves on Bars

The Bears have trained some big release moves on bars, and we caught a glimpse of some of this at the intrasquad. Notably, Williams has upgraded with a new single-bar release with a huge Hindorff.

Check out a video of this move from an earlier training session:

Other strong release moves we saw included a piked Tkatchev from sophomore Sofie Seilnacht, big Giengers from senior Dana Ho, freshman newcomer Alexandra Dudschus, and Takara. Ho is looking strong after coming back from an ACL injury and competed a full bar routine at the intrasquad.

High Difficulty on Beam

On beam, we've seen training from lineup veterans Williams, Richardson, Sofie Seilnacht, and seniors Charlie Owens, Desiree Palomares, and Zoe Draghi. Williams is training her same tumbling from this past season -- a front tuck to standing layout step-out. Both Draghi and Seilnacht are training back-handspring, layout step-out for their tumble series, and Seilnacht is also working an illusion turn. Owens and Palomares are both working triple series -- two back-handsprings to layout step-out for Owens and front aerial, back-handspring, layout step-out for Palomares. Also seen in training was Richardson's same dismount from last season -- a sky-high double back.

Check out some recent footage from beam training with Owens, Draghi, Palomares and Williams:

We have also seen some impressive moves from newcomer Keelen, who showed off a solid routine at the recent intrasquad.

Check it out below:

From Strength to Strength on Floor

Floor was one of Cal's best events last season -- the Bears ranked No. 11 in the regular season. As with the other apparatus, Cal has every gymnast in its lineup back this year in addition to the freshmen who have joined. Williams was the team's clutch performer in 2016 -- she was tied for No. 7 in the country. At the recent intrasquad, we saw her training a solid double layout. Draghi was also an important contributor for the team on floor this past season. She was training her same routine from last season at the intrasquad, including a double tuck for her first pass. Robinson is still training her same opening "E" pass -- a double Arabian, in addition to a double pike for her final pass.

For upgrades, we've seen Owens training a front double full -- an "E" pass and an upgrade from her Rudi that she competed last season.

Check out a clip from her training below:

From the freshmen, we saw some great tumbling from Keelen at the recent intrasquad, including a double tuck and front layout to front full.
