This year's Region 5 High Tech Camp was held at University of Michigan, and it featured the top athletes in one of the nation's most prestigious regions. Region 5 is known for its consistency in producing high-level athletes and for its success in winning both team and individual national titles year after year.

The gymnasts met up in early October for a training camp attended by college coaches, who come to watch and scope out current and future recruits. The athletes invited to High Tech Camp included current elites, 2016 J.O. Nationals qualifiers/alternates, and 2015 J.O. Nationals competitors, who did not compete in 2016 regionals due to injury or illness.
