The first qualifying session of the 2016 Men's NCAA Championships is history and the University of Oklahoma didn't disappoint winning by over 15 points posting a 441.2. The Sooners took the lead on floor and never looked back as they had the sessions highest
team scores on every event but floor. Yul Moldauer competed in five events for the Sooners with scores between 14.65 and 15.45 on floor highest for Oklahoma and second highest of any score in the entire meet.

In second place was the University of Minnesota  with a 426.4. The Gophers started off slow on pommels and rings with 68 + scores on each of those events. They began making their climb in the 3rd rotation with the 3rd best vault score. Going into the 4th rotation, they were in a three team battle for the entire competition but finished strong with the 2nd best high bar score of 71.65 and tops on floor with a 73.15 to move onto the NCAA Team finals.null
Penn State came back in the final rotation to claim the 3rd spot with a 2nd place rings performance of a 72.65. The Nittany Lions began on vault and struggled a bit despite a 15.15 for senior Trevor Howard. They picked it up with a strong P-bar rotation but scored under the 70 mark on both high bar and floor to sit in 4th place going into the final event. They rocked rings with Trevor Howard back in the ring line-up (didn't compete at Big Tens) and posting a 14.6. But it was Leroy Clarke who lead the way with his 15.05, 3rd best in the entire competition.
