Tonight, Feb. 1, at 6:00 MST the Utah Red Rocks will host fellow Pac-12 team the Arizona GymCats at the Huntsman Center.  Last time they faced off was during the 2015 season in Tucson where Utah beat out Arizona 197.850 to 196.375.  Since then, Utah has brought in four new freshmen and graduated several seniors, so the competition this year will be a whole new story.

Last weekend Arizona faced UCLA in the McKale Center, scoring a season-best 196.475, with consistently solid scores throughout the meet.  The highlight of the night was floor, where they put up an incredible performance, totaling a 49.375 on the event. Sophomore Kennady Schneider and senior Jessie Sissler lead the way with 9.9s, but a 9.875 from freshman Lauren Mattson and 9.85s from both senior Shelby Edwards and junior Selynna Felix-Terrezas filled in the rest of the stellar lineup.  Arizona also scored a season high on beam vs UCLA, with help from sophomore Madison Cindric, who put up a career high of 9.875.

Utah performed well against Oregon State last weekend, grabbing a win over the Beavers 196.650 to 195.075 and earning junior Baely Rowe the title of Pac-12 Specialist of the Week. She scored a 9.900 on beam, and a career high 9.95 on bars, where she is ranked fourth in the nation. This is the third week in a row the team has won honors from the conference after Sabrina Schwab was named Freshman of the Week and senior Breanna Hughes was named Specialist of the Week.  Utah also scored a season-high 49.275 on beam, lead by Rowe's performance and this 9.925 from sophomore Maddy Stover:

However, Utah's lineup will be changing this week.  Sophomore Kari Lee, who has been competing in the all-around, tore her Achilles' tendon in practice this week and will be out for the rest of the season. This is a big loss for Utah - Lee scored 9.825 on vault, bars, and beam last week - but the team is strong enough to overcome the loss. It will be exciting to see how the lineup changes tonight.
