Meet Preview: No. 3 Florida Takes On No. 5 UCLA
No. 5 UCLA travels to No. 3 Florida for a Friday night meet at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. This will be the home opener for the Florida Gators, and the first time in front of their fans since they won their third consecutive National Championship in 2015. The last matchup between the Bruins and Gators took place in the 2014 season opener at Pauley Pavillion where the Gators won 196.650-196.625.

Danusia Francis of UCLA on beam at 2013 NCAA Event Finals

UCLA returns four All-Americans – Sadiqua Bynun , Sophina DeJesus, Danusia Francis and Christine Peng-Peng Lee. Make sure to look out for Lee's hands-free beam routine, which she performed last week and scored a huge 9.95.

As for the Gators, they return five All Americans from last year’s championship squad and have a great Freshman class this 2016 season. Lead by new head coach Jenny Rowland, Florida will look to take home yet another championship this year. Look out for sophomore Alex McMurty, SEC gymnast of the week Bridget Sloan, and Kennedy Baker who will be standouts again this season.

Check out McMurty's vault from last weekend, which was awarded Stick Of The Week, and scored a 9.925:

Senior Bridget Sloan had an incredible opening weekend, winning the all around with a 39.5, capped off by this lovely beam set:

Kennedy Baker performed a standout floor set last week, scoring a 9.90 on floor:

This is bound to be an electrifying matchup, and a battle down to the last routine. It is the only top10 match of the weekend, so you definitely want to follow along! We will have live updates throughout the competition.
