Max Whitlock Nominated For 2015 BBC Sports Personality Of The Year
Great Britain's Max Whitlock, 22, has been nominated for the 2015 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, according to BBC. He is coming off a historic performance at the 2015 World Championships in Glasgow—both individually and as part of Team GBR. Whitlock led Great Britain to a silver medal in the team final and also clinched Great Britain's first gold World Championships medal for for his outstanding pommel horse performance in event finals. Whitlock also secured silver on floor.

Whitlock suffered glandular fever earlier this year, which made it a tough year for him. However he definitely proved himself as a fighter and came back strong. Unlike many gymnasts who start the sport incredibly young, Whitlock didnÂ’t try gymnastics until age seven, but his talent and hard work has taken him to new heights.

The public will decide the winner from the shortlist of 12 contenders during the live show with a vote during the BBC One on Sunday, December 20. If Whitlock wins this award, he will be the first-ever gymnast to do so. The closest has been Beth Tweddle who took fifth in 2009.
