Maroney surprises a young fan with a phone call: Hi Katherine, this is McKayla!

On November 14, 2012, McKayla Maroney signed autographs at an AT&T store in Washington, DC. Mac, father of 11-year-old Level 7 gymnast, Katherine, arrived to get McKayla's autograph, while Katherine was at home sick. Much to Katherine's surprise, within seconds, McKayla Maroney was on the phone with the young gymnast, providing tips on her Yurchenko vault and inspiring Katherine to "always follow your dreams."
