Routines of 2010 - Vanessa Zamarripa VT

null

UCLA sophomore Vanessa Zamarripa was absolutely beautiful on vault all year. As a freshman in 2009, she made the NCAA vault finals and without a 2nd vault to compete she decided to throw just a yurchenko layout. Even though it was the most gorgeous yurchenko layout we've ever seen, it couldn't contend for the vault title. This motivated her to learn a new vault and she impressed us in 2010 with a brand new layed out Podkopayeva vault. To no surprise she won the 2010 NCAA Vault title. Following the NCAA Championships, Vanessa decided to try elite gymnastics. She qualified all the way to the US Championships in Hartford where she debuted an incredible Cheng vault on the first night of competition and landed herself on the US Senior National team. Unfortunately we won't get to see Vanessa in action this year as she recently tore her achilles tumbling during training but the surgery went well and we wish her a speedy recovery!
