Olympian Kathy Johnson Remembering Gymnastics in the 1980's

null

Kathy Johnson-Clarke was named to the US Olympic team in both 1980 and 1984. However, due to the American boycott of the 1980 Games in Moscow, she and her Olympic teammates did not get to live out that Olympic experience. Kathy talks about the period after the boycott and deciding to stay in the sport. She ultimately went on to represent the team at the 1984 Olympics where she, at age 24, was the team captain and won 2 Olympic medals (silver for team and bronze on beam). She was a major part of history in American gymnastics and one of the first American gymnasts to win a major international medal.
