In an unprecedented move by the United States Olympic Committee, the 2016 Rio team has been selected prior to the Trials! 

The season was really heating up for the top elite gymnasts who are in the running for Rio, so the committee made it official today by naming the following gymnasts:

1. Mary Lou Retton

Retton has recently been inspired by her daughter McKenna who is a freshman at Louisiana State. She's been reminded of just how fun gymnastics can be, and can't wait to have a shot at more Olympic history.

2. Dominique Dawes

Today, she was USAG's #FlashbackFriday... hint, hint? We can't wait to see her signature tumbling passes and we've heard she plans to connect all four passes without stopping (Closing with a quadruple back because #rockstar).

3. Nastia Liukin

Nastia graduates from college this spring and she'll have all the time in the world to train. She's proven before she can make a comeback to elite gymnastics and Valeri is ready for another round!

4. Shannon Miller

The most decorated gymnast in U.S. history is on the move for just a little more decoration... Steve Nunno is back in the game so Shannon thought she'd join the party.

5. Kim Zmeskal-Burdette

Kim spends a lot of time in the gym training all her little Texas Dreamers, but nobody knew that she's been staying after every practice to work on her own new routines. The hardest part has been adjusting to the new vault table - but she's almost mastered the Yurchenko triple so I think we'll be good.

What an Olympics this will be!!!
