Oklahoma Gymnastics alumni were witness to an incredible performance last night by the Sooners. The team broke a 198 for the first time this season, notching a 198.075 to grab a win over No. 4 Michigan. The Wolverines put up impressive scores on floor and vault, but didn't have enough to match the Sooners, and ended with a team total of 197.275.

The night started off with the Sooners on vault. For the first time this year, one judge gave sophomore Ali Jackson's stuck Yurchenko 1 1/2 a 10.0, but she received a score of a 9.975. On bars, the Sooners had three scores of 9.925 or higher. Senior Haley Scaman earned a 9.925 while freshman Nicole Lehrmann and junior Chayse Capps were both given scores of a 9.950.

Capps performed beautifully, as always, on beam. Her elegance and grace earned her a 9.925. Sophomore Natalie Brown also received a score of 9.9 for the Sooners on beam. Finally, the Sooners scored their second highest floor score in program history. Counting all scores of a 9.925 or above, they posted an incredible 49.700. Jackson and Scaman were the highlights of the rotation, scoring 9.95 and 9.975 respectively, and both received one 10 from a judge.

Michigan started off their night on bars with three scores of a 9.875 from sophomore Brianna Brown and seniors Austin Sheppard and Lindsay Williams.  On vault, Olivia Karas once again nailed her Yurchenko 1 1/2 for a 9.950. With a fall from Williams on beam, the Wolverines had to count a 9.775, making that event total of a 49.125 their lowest of the evening. Despite this, Sophomore Lauren Marinez was a standout of the Wolverines, scoring a 9.925 for her beautiful beam set. On floor, the team scored an impressive 49.500, with three scores of a 9.9 or higher from Karas, Nicole Artz, and Talia Chiarelli

It was an exciting competition for the alumni crowd, with great performances by both teams. While the Sooners grabbed the win this time, you can bet these two teams will be seeing each other again at NCAAs, where it really counts.
