Miss Val Shares Her Story Of Battling & Beating Breast Cancer
At UCLA's Pink-Out Meet on February 13, beloved head coach Valorie Kondos Field announced that she has been battling breast cancer for the past year. Miss Val is now cancer-free and she joined Danusia Francis in this week's episode of Bruin Banter to share her story of faith that is greater than fear--a faith that allows her to see every day as a gift from God. She didn't come out with her cancer until now with the hope of staying out of the spotlight while battling chemotherapy.

She decided that it was time to come out with her story, in case it could empower at least one person with hope.

Either when you are diagnosed or when you know someone diagnosed...don't go to fear right away. Stay on hope.

Kondos-Field so honestly reflects on the cancer that threatened to steal her joy, but she never let it. While battling chemo throughout the year, she genuinely asked that her team stay positive with her through the journey and not treat her like she was 'sick.'

It doesn't have to be scary. It doesn't have to be Doomsday.

She describes the heart-wrenching sobs but also the joyful tears. Now, grab some tissues and listen to this powerful and inspiring story:
