McKayla Maroney winning her second consecutive world vaulting title

During this year’s World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium, McKayla Maroney became the only U.S. women to win back-to-back World Championship titles on the Vault. Maroney won her first vault title at the 2011 World Championships in Tokyo.

In Antwerp, Maroney performed a gorgeous Amanar for her first vault and stuck it cold for a score of 15.966. Maroney's second vault is the one she infamously sat down at the 2012 Olympic final.  In Antwerp, Maroney over-rotated the Mustafina and score a 15.483 earning an average of 15.724 to clinch the gold medal.

The Breakout Star of the 2013 as voted on by the Gymnastics Community is….

Simone Biles!
Simone Biles of Bannon’s Gymnastix burst onto the international stage at the 2013 AT&T American Cup in her first year as a senior elite, Biles debuted many new skills and thrilled the crowd with a flawless Amanar resulting in the all-around silver medal

The next test for Biles took place at the 2013 Jeselo Trophy meet where Biles stole the show, winning the all-around title and gold medals on vault, beam, and floor.

Biles struggled in her next big meet at the 2013 Secret U.S. Classic but champions fight back from adversity and that is exactly what Biles did, winning the all around title a few weeks later at the P&G Championships. Additionally, Biles had a strong showing at World selection camp earning a trip to Antwerp, Belgium. In Antwerp, Biles won the World All Around title in addition to gold on floor, silver on vault, and bronze on beam.

Congrats to Simone Biles on her success in 2013 and we look forward to many more great moments in  2014.

The University of Florida

In 2013 Super Six Final, Florida had a disastrous start on beam that included shocking falls from Ashanee Dickerson and Kytra Hunter. On their next event, the Gators posted the highest floor score in NCAA Super Six history, 49.725. One by one, the Gators nailed the rest of their routines and Florida became the fifth school EVER to win the NCAA Championship. It was a historic year for the Gators, who picked up additional titles from Bridget Sloan in the all around and beam final along with Alaina Johnson's title on the uneven bars.
