Preview: No. 1 Florida Opens At Ball State
The No. 1 Defending Co-Champs Florida Gators grace the state of Indiana with a first-time appearance as they begin the 2015 season on the road at Ball State University. The last time these teams met was in the 2013 season opener where the Gators decisively walked away with the win 196.575 to 190.55. The meet is set for Sunday, January 11, at 1 p.m. in John E. Worthen Arena.

FLORIDA

Coming off a historic season, the 2013 and 2014 NCAA Co-Champs are adequately prepared for yet another dominating season in 2015. Despite losing heavy hitters Mackenzie Caquatto and Alaina Johnson who accounted for seven essential routines, the Gators have nine returners and four newcomers who are more than capable of carrying on the winning tradition.

Florida’s fearless group of veterans will be lead by dynamic duo Kytra Hunter and Bridget Sloan.  The prodigious pair are both former NCAA all-around champions and hold 34 All-American honors between them. The Gators also possess a highly proficient supporting cast of multi-event specialists who are capable of scoring 9.90s on each of their routines. These consistent and reliable competitors include the likes of Rachel Spicer and Bridgette Caquatto who scored the clutch 9.950 as the last competitor on floor for a piece of the 2014 Championship title.

But, don’t forget the Gators’ formidable freshman class! Ranked yet again the No.1 freshman class by College Gym Fans, these Gators may be fledglings on the roster, but they are packed with potential and will be contending for starting spots in the lineup. Highlighting this class is Kennedy Baker, a former Senior National Team member with huge gymnastics and seven-time Level 10 Junior Olympic national event champion, AlexMcMurtry

With a team more majestic than the Florida sun itself, the Gators are unequivocally poised to run for the “three-peat” in 2015.
