Sarah Finnegan Signs With LSU

Elite gymnast and former national team member Sarah Finnegan plans to attend LSU in the fall of 2015. Finnegan currently trains at St. Louis Gymnastics Center. Finnegan joins the LSU 2015 signing class of Julianna Cannamela, McKenna Kelley, Lexie Priessman, and Kaitlyn Szafranski.

Finnegan has been sidelined recently with injuries but boasts a respectable resume, including being named alternate to the 2012 Olympic team. In 2010 Finnegan competed at the Pan American Championships where USA won first as a team and Finnegan placed third on beam. In 2012, she competed at the City of Jesolo Trophy where USA won gold as a team and Finnegan won bronze in the all-around. She placed 6th all-around at the 2012 Olympic Trials and was named an alternate to team USA.

Finnegan is particularly known for her elegant gymnastics and graceful style. Watch her beam routine from the 2012 Championships below.

In an LSU press release, LSU head coach D-D Breaux said, “I am so excited Sarah is joining the LSU family, and the rest of the signees are thrilled to have her as part of the class too. It’s truly gratifying to wrap up this class with someone who not only possesses great skills as a gymnast, but someone who is also a wonderful person like Sarah.”
