TUMBLE - Britain's Big Launch Tomorrow!
The brand-new BBC six-part series, Tumble, is due to air live this Saturday night in Great Britain. The entertainment show has created a lot of hype that has traveled across the pond.

The show consists of 10 celebrities who will learn and perform their best gymnastics on a range of disciplines to not only impress the judging panel, but win the public’s vote. It’s basically a Dancing with the Stars and Splash! idea, but for gymnastics.

Here is a closer look at the contestants, many of whom will be unfamiliar to the United States audience. If the show is a hit, there's no doubt that something similar could potentially be introduced in the States. We like the concept, but will it be a hit?

The judges will be:
Nadia Comaneci - Legendary Olympic gymnast
Louis Smith MBE - Strictly Come Dancing winner and Team GB hero
Craig Heap - Team GB captain and sports broadcaster
Sebastein Stella - Cirque du Soleil artist

The panel has a nice range of solid gymnastics knowledge, with a touch of acrobatic and circus quality too.

Alex Jones will hosting along with Beth Tweddle, who will perform and serve as a mentor on the series.

Here are the celebrities and what to look out for:

  Amelle Berrabah
Age: 30
Claim to fame: British singer and former member of British pop girl group Sugababe’s.
Analysis: Berrabah has a very good chance. At 5’2”, she’s petite and light which is a huge advantage in gymnastics. Hopefully she’ll gain the adequate strength and foundation of the sport to go for some bigger skills as the series progresses.

  Andrea McLean
Age: 44
Claim to fame: ITV Scottish TV presenter
Analysis: McLean is the only contestant who doesn’t have a background in sports or dance. She may struggle the most due to this inexperience, but with the right coaching, she may become the biggest improver throughout the series.

  Bobby Lockwood
Age: 21
Claim to fame: Actor, best know for his role in fantasy/supernatural British TV series Wolfblood.
Analysis: The teen heartthrob will be fun to watch and a catch for the ladies. As the youngest contestant, hopefully he'll be the dare devil of the show and try skills that some of the older contestant may be too cautious to attempt.

  Carl Froch
Age: 37
Claim to fame: English professional boxer
Analysis: Froch will have strength, which is important, and already being a top athlete will help him greatly. The audience should gain insight to the differences and similarities between gymnastics and boxing. It’ll be a “switching sports” setting, which should definitely deliver entertainment.

  Sarah Harding
Age: 32
Claim to fame: Former British girl band Girls Aloud singer
Analysis: Although she is slightly taller at 5’7”, Harding is fit and lean giving her great chances. She will probably be lacking form, but could compensate by not holding back too much. If she does, she could be a pleasant surprise.

  Emma Samms
Age: 53
Claim to fame: English TV actress, best know for her role in the British soap opera Dynasty.
Analysis: Samms will bring beauty and class to the show. Since she has a dancing and ballet background, she may not necessarily pack in a bunch of skills, but she’ll bring elegance and style. Her biggest weaknesses may be strength.

  Ian 'H' Watkins
Age: 38
Claim to fame: Former British pop group Step’s singer
Analysis: Watkins has the dancing background, which will help in training. He should be great entertainment and should have the fun, all-around performing quality.

  John Partridge
Age: 43
Claim to fame: British soap opera Eastenders actor
Analysis: Although Partridge is older, he’s strong and looks agile. It should be interesting to see how he handles some of the challenges gymnastics has in store for him.

  Lucy Mecklenburgh
Age: 22
Claim to fame: British soap opera The Only Way Is Essex star
Analysis: Mecklenburgh will be out to impress. At a thin 5’6” if she’s brave she could do some great things. But will she be pushed out her comfort zone and encouraged to perform skills that she’s capable of doing?

  Peter Duncan
Age: 60
Claim to fame: Ex-presenter for five years on the longest-running children’s TV show in the world, Blue Peter.
Analysis: As the oldest contestant on the show, Duncan may not have as much ability when it comes to gymnastics, but he’s fit. He’s a regular marathon runner, which should give him the endurance needed to cope with the contest. During his time presenting in Blue Peter, he was well known for his dare devil stunts, and even had his own spin-off show, Duncan Dares. The biggest disadvantage will be his late addition to the show after Mr. Motivator (Derrick Evans), who had already spent six weeks training, recently dislocated his knee on vault during rehearsal. With only a few weeks preparation, his brave approval to join the highly challenging show should be inspiring.

First look at the ages of the contestants is enough to give pause because we all know that gymnastics gets tougher on the body as you get older. However, the age ranges are diverse enough to display why gymnastics is, for example, so short lived for women, and how vigorous the training is for not only the older contestants but the younger ones, too.

With the sport's popularity boosted after the London 2012 Olympic Games and the recent Glasgow Commonwealth Games, as well as a huge upsurge in the participation of various sports in Britain, Tumble will be worth following.

Executive Producer, Rachel Arnold, put it best. “It’s gymnastics, but not as you know it!”
