Horton to Compete for First Time Since Olympics

Jonathan Horton
is on the list of competitors for the 2014 P&G Championships. He has not competed gymnastics since the 2012 Olympics where he placed sixth on high bar and team USA placed fifth.

Horton competed at the 2012 Olympics with a shoulder injury and he found out after that he had a 90% tear in his rotator cuff. He had surgery and after taking time off to recover, Horton got back in the gym to continue training.

He almost entered the 2013 P&G Championships and said that he would have been ready to do a few events, but he decided not to push it, noting that he was aiming for the long run goal of the 2016 Olympics. He then tore a pectoral muscle and had to undergo another surgery in December 2013, according to NBC Sports.

Horton was recently seen on the TV show American Ninja Warrior but he did not make it past the Dallas qualifying round.

Horton is one of the most decorated US male gymnasts and has a long list of accomplishments. He competed at the 2008 Olympics where he placed second on high bar, ninth all-around, and team USA got third. He a two-time US National Champion and has competed at five World Championships. At the 2012 Olympics, Horton was the oldest on the team and when the 2016 Olympics comes around he will be 30 years old.
