2014 American Classic – Senior Elite Gymnasts

The 2014 American Classic will feature four senior elite gymnasts making their senior debuts! The four gymnasts include, Alexandra Marks, Melissa Reinstadtler, Samantha Ogden and Macy Toronjo. The American Classic will be held at the ranch in Huntsville, Texas on July 5th. The majority of the athletes competing in the American Classic are veterans of the ranch, through the developmental camps or National team camp, and they are very familiar with the equipment and environment. The American Classic will severe as one of two qualifers for the 2014 P&G Gymnastics Championships.

One of the gymnasts making her senior debut is 15 year old Alexandra Marks who trains at Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy with Christian Ivanov and Coral Borda. Alexandra will graduate in 2016 from high school and has verbally committed to the University of Oklahoma. Her favorite event is bars where she likes learning new skills. Marks has goals to make a US National Team.

Melissa Reinstadtler will be making her senior debut at 16 years old this July at the American Classic. Melissa trains at Rebound Gymnastics Inc with her coach, Diane Farrell. Her favorite event is floor where she enjoys learning new skills. “Missy” qualified to junior international elite at the 2013 July National Qualifier and continued on to compete at the Secret Classic and P&G Championships. This year Missy competed at the SCEGA Cal Classic Elite Qualifier where she won with a 53.8. Melissa made her first appearance at June training camp to help prepare for the American Classic. Missy graduates in 2016 and will transition to NCAA gymnastics and compete for the University of Utah.

Another gymnast making her senior debut is Macy Toronjo, who trains at Texas Dreams Gymnastics under Kim and Chris Burdett. She will graduate high school next year in 2015. Macy was out most of the 2013 season with an injury. Last year at the American Classic, Macy placed 7th on bars. In February 2014, Macy competed at the Buckeye Elite Qualifier where she finished 1st on vault, balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around. Macy qualified to senior international elite status as well as to the American Classic and US Classic this summer.

Making her senior elite debut, Samantha Ogden trains at WOGA Gymnastics with coaches Laurent Landi and Cecile Canqueteau-Landi. Samantha is 16 years old and will graduate high school in 2016. Sam’s favorite event is bars and she loves learning new skills. Last year as a junior, Sam placed 1st on bars, 4th in the all-around, 5th on floor, and 7th on vault at the 2013 American Classic.
