During day two of qualifications at the Anadia World Challenge Cup, and the field was set for finals on the remaining five events: men’s vault, parallel bars, and high bar, and women’s balance beam and floor.

On men’s vault, Haoran Wang (CHN) took the top qualifying spot with a 15.175, followed by Audrys Nin Reyes (DOM) with a 14.925 and Eddie Penev (USA) in third with a 14.875. Teammate Sam Mikulak (USA) also made it through to the finals in fifth place with a 14.55 average. Diego Hypolito (BRA) was originally slated to compete in the vault qualification, per the preliminary start list, but was not present today. On parallel bars, it was France’s Kevin Antoniotti who claimed the top qualifying spot with a 15.20. It was a close race among the top three competitors, with Mitja Petkovsek (SLO) scoring a 15.15 and just edging Mikulak out of second place by 0.05 points. Mikulak was also at the top of the pack on high bar, where a 14.90 gave him the second highest qualifying score behind Marijo Moznik (CRO) with a 14.95. Penev missed out on the high bar final by only 0.15 points, placing tenth overall with a 13.85.

 

Among the women, Jessica Lopez (VEN) was back in action on the beam, where she ranked third with a 13.15 behind Portugal’s Ana Filipa Martins (13.700) and Uzbekistan’s Elena Riga (13.20). Uzbekistan and Portugal are both sending two gymnasts to the finals on the balance beam. Martins had a strong performance overall, as she also led the floor qualifications with a 13.25. The second qualifying spot went to Asal Saparbaeva (UZB) with a 12.90.
