Sooner Seniors Get Ready to Say Farewell
No. 3 Oklahoma will take on No. 21 Arizona State Friday evening for their last home competition of the season. Sooner seniors, Taylor Spears, Hayden Ward, Lauren Alexander, Lara Albright, and Madison Mooring will be honored for their contributions to OU Gymnastics at this event.

This crew of seniors has been part of two top three NCAA finishes (2011-third, 2013-second), two Big 12 Championships (2012, 2013), and three NCAA Regional titles (2011, 2012, 2013).

Oklahoma heads into the weekend with a Team RQS of 197.415 and a team average of 197.391, ranking them third in the nation. Arizona State holds a Team RQS of 195.710 and a team average of 195.409, giving the Sooners a numerical edge.


Gymnasts to Watch:

Carissa Kraus, Arizona State
Kraus has scored a 9.9 on both vault and uneven bars this season. She has competed on these events for the Sun Devils at every meet in 2014. Her scores have improved and become more consistent throughout the season.

Taylor Spears, Oklahoma
Spears has scored a 9.9 or higher on uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise this season. She has been an active part of the Sooner line up since her freshman year in 2011 and is a standout leader for this young Oklahoma team. Known for her elegance and strong presence in the arena, she has always been a crowd favorite in Norman.

Chayse Capps, Oklahoma
Capps is a freshman phenom who has proven her worth in the line up quite quickly this season. Scoring over a 9.9 on vault, balance beam, and floor exercise this season, she has established a name for herself in the collegiate gymnastics realm and racked up multiple Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors. With a career high 9.975 on balance beam, Capps is a force to reckon with in 2014.
