Dowell Added to AT&T American Cup Field

The lineup for the 2014 AT&T American Cup has shaken up once again. Reigning World Champion Simone Biles of Team USA and 2013 World Floor bronze medalist Larisa Iordache of Romania have withdrawn due to injury.

Biles, who has been nursing a shoulder injury, aggravated that shoulder during the pre-competition training camp at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch. She is expected to get an MRI in the near future, according to USA Gymnastics.

Team USA has chosen 2013 World team alternate Brenna Dowell of GAGE to replace Biles in the upcoming international competition. Dowell was the bronze medalist in both the all-around and the uneven bars at the 2013 P&G Championships. Dowell joins 2012 Olympic alternate Elizabeth Price of Parkettes National Gymnastics Center who previously replaced World and Olympic medalist Kyla Ross.

The 2014 AT&T American Cup is scheduled for Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Greensboro (N.C.) Coliseum Complex. Gymnastike will be on hand for coverage.

Below is the latest field for the 2014 AT&T American Cup. The AT&T American Cup field has eight women and nine men, because USA Gymnastics exercised its wild card option to have two U.S. men entered in the field.
