At the halfway point in the season the top-ranked Florida Gators defeated the Arkansas Gymbacks, 197.525 – 196.025.

 

Florida has been on a roll scoring at least one perfect 10.0 for the last 3 consecutive meets and continued the stunning ritual again tonight. Junior Kytra Hunter, the 2012 NCAA Vault and All-Around Champion, and 2012 Honda Award winner, scored a perfect 10.0 to finish off the Gators on Vault.

 

This perfect 10.0 makes Hunter’s third this season with her previous two on floor. Hunter says her goal is to make 10 perfect 10’s in one season. 

 

There we other close calls with potential perfect 10.0’s from senior Mackenzie Caquatto on bars and sophomore Bridget Sloan on floor.  In both cases one judge scored them with a 10.0 but the other judge flashed a different score. Click here to watch Sloan's 9.975 routine.

 

Senior Alaina Johnson was back in the all-around for the second time this season after healing from stress fractures in her back. Johnson scored a 39.275 placing third overall. Arkansas’ Katherine Grable placed second with a 39.575, and Bridget Sloan took first with a stunning 39.75. This is Sloan's career-best all around total and is the second time this season she's achieved the mark. Sloan is currently the Nation's top ranked all arounder and the reigning NCAA All Around Champion. 
 

This was the first time this season that Arkansas star Katherine Grable did not win the floor and all-around title.

 

The Gators had a rough time on beam with a fall from Hunter and a missed skill from Johnson. Sloan was up just after Hunter’s fall and fought tooth and nail for her front aerial to scale. Mackenzie Caquatto solidified the beam lineup with a 9.875.

 

Florida’s final beam total was only a 49.0. Head Coach Rhonda Faehn says there is much room for improvement, but she was still proud of her team.

 

Florida will face LSU next Friday for the Link 2 Pink meet supporting breast cancer.
