No. 9 Georgia upsets No. 2 LSU at home


No. 9 Georgia upsets No. 2 LSU 197.175 - 196.875. Georgia with a much improved floor rotation brought them their first win of 2014. This was a great SEC battle that came down to the final few routines between two of the best in the SEC. Rheagan Courville and Jessie Jordan from LSU shared the AA title with a 39.375. 
Recap:

Chelsea Davis got the Gym Dogs off to a strong start on vault with a 9.9 followed by a strong team performance to total 49.375. Lindsay Cheek continued her hot start with big vault and a 9.9. The Gym Dogs had huge vaults and some key landings to get off to an early lead over LSU.

Georgia moved to bars where they continued to post strong scores with big routines. Brittany Rogers posted a 9.9, Lindsay Cheek with a 9.9 and Chelsea Davis closed the rotation posting a career high, 9.975. Georgia extended their lead to .225 over the Tigers at the halfway point.


The beam rotation started with two freshmen in their first performance in front of the home town crowd. Lindsay Cheek got the Gym Dogs back on track after a fall with 9.875. Kaylan Earls anchored the event with a 9.85. Georgia was able to avoid counting a fall and posted a beam score of 49.0..

Georgia went into floor with a slim .1 lead over LSU. Georgia was looking for a much improved floor rotation after struggling last weekend on the road. Georgia hit six strong routines to give them a 49.275 team score. Morgan Reynolds set a career high with a 9.9 and Brandie Jay was able to seal the win by posting a 9.9 in the anchor position.


Georgia will become (1-2) on the season. Georgia has another quick turn around with another meet on Monday against Iowa in Stegeman Coliseum

Rheagan Courville and Jessie Jordan lead the way on bars for LSU both scoring a 9.9. LSU posted a team score of 49.2 on bars.  

LSU continued their strong start by adding a 49.425 on vault. Lead by freshman Ashleigh Gnat with a 9.9.

LSU started out floor with a fall, however the remaining performers stepped up to post a 49.175. Lloimincia Hall brought her big tumbling and big energy to Athens to post a 9.875. LSU scoring a 49.175 as a team.

LSU moved to their final rotation only down by .1 looking to leave Athens with a win. LSU was able to hit six routines, but came up a little short against the Gym Dogs. Rheagan Courville was the highlight for the event with a 9.875. LSU had a team score of 49.075.

LSU trailed the Gym Dogs throughout the entire meet, however kept it close until the end. LSU will fall to (1-1) on their season. LSU will return home next weekend to take on the Auburn Tigers.
